Obituary of Ellen Grace Lasconia Cortinas

On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Ellen Grace Lasconia Cortinas, doting mother, and beautiful wife, departed our world at the age of 56. 

Grace was born on November 25, 1961 in Fort Ord, California to Magdalena and Teodolfo Lasconia. After graduating from Seaside High School, she spent her life loving fiercely, first as a mother to her son, as a soldier in the U.S. Navy, as a nurse assistant/caretaker, as a small business owner, and as a volunteer at Dorothy's Place.

Grace was a youthful soul who held a special place in her heart for the fantastic, magical, or romantic moments in life. She could often be found mimicking martial arts moves, crying over tragic love, or cheering for an underdog, all during the same movie or show. She always kept her door open to those down on their luck, shared her table with those on an empty stomach, and had a smile ready for those in need of warm company.

Grace was preceded in death by her mother, Magdalena. She is survived by her son Robert Steven (Kiyomi), her husband David, her brothers, her father, and anyone who remembers her infectious laughter. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home at 11AM. Flowers to be arranged by Seaside Florist. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dorothy's Place in Salinas may be made on her behalf.
