One of the major blessings of my life is the privilege to have been a dear friend of Shirley and Don and their three wonderful children for over 38 years! The added and unexpected joy has been the chance to also have the honor to become a friend of Joan's as well. The countless memories I have of wonderful visits, discussions, FOOD and LAUGHTER shared with these warm, generous, stimulating and exuberant people are overwhelming. It began with Judge Thomas performing my wedding ceremony in the Harrison's garden and grew exponentially. My life would simply not be the same without this very special relationship. Don made the world a better place. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Joan. Love, Judy

My memories of Don Thomas are indeed wonderful to say the least. He was truly one of a kind, a man of honor, someone who cared, His strength of character defined him. Don and Shirley were my dear friends, and I never doubted that for a minute. They took me under their wings after my first husband's death, looking after me, taking me to lunch and dinner often, plus including me in many activities. I felt so blessed. After I married once again, it did not end. The four of us spent many happy times together. Even after my second husband's unexpected death, they were present by side once again. I was privileged to know them and to be part of their lives. May my life touch others as they did me. To those that mourn, may they know that heavens gates have opened for a joyous welcome. Blessings to the family, Reggie Phillips

I served on a jury for the first time in Judge Thomas's courtroom in 1988. I was greatly impressed by his knowledge of the law and his methodical approach, but I was even more taken with his genuine humanity. His clear concern that justice be done with respect and dignity for the attorneys, the accused, the jurors, and the court staff was most impressive, and he was very patient with the twelve of us on the jury, all first-timers. His carefully made comments proved invaluable to us in the jury room when it came to understanding the law. Judge Thomas embodied the best of what we like to believe of our judicial system. Many thanks, Your Honor, for your service to, and care for, our community and its citizens.

I only met Don briefly when he came to Massachusetts to meet Joan's family.
I was happy to learn that he had quite a sense of humor. I made a few comments that he picked up on and had quick responses for. Very enjoyable. I wish he lived closer so I could get to know him better. Very happy that I did get a chance to meet him.
His new brother-in-law,
Dick Yetman
